After spending the past week promoting the creation of a “Perreo University” and reportedly getting more than two million people to “enroll,” Wisin has revealed revealed the centerpiece of the viral campaign: La Universidad del Perreo is the title of his new album, arriving September 4th.
Wisin made the announcement in a video posted to his X account, which shows the Puerto Rican artist walking through a classroom as the “dean” of the institution. “The definitive study material is now ready,” he announces before revealing the album.
The video ends with Wisin walking through a “Hall of Fame” displaying the names of Ivy Queen, Don Chezina, Jowell & Randy, Franco El Gorilla, Jory Boy, Trébol Clan, and Kapo, suggesting they could be involved with the album or accompanying project. Their specific roles have not yet been confirmed.
“We called on the best in this field to bring you the original sound, the essence that started it all,” Wisin added in the video.
The album is only part of Universidad del Perreo, which Wisin says will include courses, activities, and other experiences intended to give reggaeton “the rigor and place of respect it deserves.”
San Juan, Miami, Bogotá, and Mexico City were the first cities announced for the project in a separate post on the project’s Instagram page.
