Adrianne Lenker

American singer-songwriter Adrianne Lenker was born into a Christian cult in Indiana, before moving with her family to Minnesota for many years. She recorded her first album at age 13. Lenker moved to Santa Cruz and dropped out of high school, but received her GED at 16. After this, the artist attended Berklee College of Music.

Lenker released her second solo album in 2014, titled Hours Were the Birds. In 2014, she collaborated with future Big Thief bandmate Buck Meek for a duo of records titled a-sides and b-sides. Big Thief was formed in 2015, and their debut, Masterpiece, was released in 2016. She released her third solo album Abyskiss, in 2018.

Amidst the Covid-19 Pandemic, Lenker released a pair of solo albums titled Songs and Instrumentals, one made up of songs with vocals, and the other made up of mere instrumentals. The albums received widespread acclaim. Her next album, Bright Future, is due for release in March, and has spawned several singles.
