Alvvays

Alvvays, a Canadian indie pop act (with twee and dream pop leanings) formed in 2011 with Molly Rankin on guitar and vocals, Kerri MacLellan on keyboard, Alec O'Hanley on guitar, Abbey Blackwell on bass, and Sheridan Riley on drums. Rankin hailed from a musical family, partaking in her father's Celtic folk family collective The Rankin Family from a young age.

The group released their self-titled debut in 2014 via Polyvinyl in the US, where it topped the college charts. The album blended forms of indie pop such as twee pop and jangle pop, that had semi-faded from mainstream indie attention. The group slowly shifted away from these styles across their other two albums as of date, 2017's Antisocialites, and 2022's Blue Rev, shifting more towards a dream pop and shoegaze sonic theme, while still maintaining their indie pop sensibilities.
