Charli XCX

Charli XCX is a British singer and songwriter who first gained attention by sharing her music on Myspace in 2008 before becoming involved in London’s rave scene. She signed with Asylum Records in 2010, releasing various singles and mixtapes before achieving mainstream success in 2012 with I Love It, her collaboration with Swedish duo Icona Pop. Her debut album, True Romance (2013), was well-received but underperformed commercially. She broke through in 2014 with “Fancy”, her chart-topping collaboration with Iggy Azalea, and her solo hit “Boom Clap”. That same year, she released her punk-influenced second album, Sucker, featuring “Doing It” and “Break The Rules”.

Exploring a more experimental sound, Charli XCX began collaborating with PC Music producers, releasing the EP Vroom Vroom (2016) and the mixtapes Number 1 Angel and Pop 2 (2017). Her third album, Charli (2019), included collaborations with HAIM, Lizzo, Clairo, and Troye Sivan, while her fourth album, How I'm Feeling Now (2020), created during the COVID-19 lockdowns, was widely praised. She reached new heights with Crash (2022), her first UK and Australian number-one album, and later contributed "Speed Drive" to the Barbie soundtrack.

Her sixth album, Brat (2024), became her second UK number-one album and was hailed as the year’s best by several publications, including Consequence. It produced multiple UK top-ten hits, including “Apple,” “Sympathy Is a Knife,” "360," and “Guess,” her second UK chart-topper. The album and its tracks earned her eight Grammy nominations and three wins, including Best Dance Pop Recording for “Von Dutch” and Best Dance/Electronic Album.

Beyond her own music, Charli XCX has written for various artists, including Iggy Azalea (“Beg for It”), Selena Gomez (“Same Old Love”), Blondie (“Tonight”), Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello (“Señorita”), and Sigala and Rita Ora (“You for Me”).
