About
Dalston Song Club

Our monthly series brings together some of the most prominent voices in contemporary songwriting, hosted by Matthew Herd. April sees the return of the amazing Wounded Bear, who is currently working on their new album.

Wounded Bear

Wounded Bear is the songwriting project of Josh Finn, a narrative songwriter whose intricate fingerpicked guitar and understated vocals can bring moments of stillness even to busy rooms. His debut EP A Calm Night for a Bullfight gained attention from Benjamin Francis Leftwich, whom he later supported on tour, and was featured by Ear to the Ground Music in their list of “songwriters that could change your life.” Alongside his own releases, Finn also co-wrote the song New York, later performed live by Matt Healy of The 1975.
His songs often unfold like short scenes: wine drunk from coffee cups, bars filled with waitresses dressed as cheerleaders, and optimistic lovers talking about their future as planes pass overhead. Small moments of magic, carefully observed and hidden in the everyday lives of ordinary people.
