About
A special and unique project led by Huw Warren to celebrate the life and music of Hermeto Pascoal (1936-2025). Hermeto was a huge influence on several generations of UK musicians and Warren has been closely associated with his music since the late 1980's, recording his compositions with fellow 'Hermetologists' Iain Ballamy and Dudley Phillips as well as releasing 2 trio albums Hermeto+ (2009) and Everything In Between (2018). Expect blistering grooves, deep improvisation and moments of sheer lyrical beauty.

In 2010 Radio 3 broadcast an hour long tribute to Hermeto featuring Warren, Ballamy,Phillips, the much missed Martin France and Italian vocalist Maria Pia de Vito. Warren has also performed with several of Hermeto's closest collaborators including keyboardist and producer Jovino Santos Neto and flautist Carlos Malta. More recently Warren has recorded and toured a Choro Project (Choro Choro Choro) featuring Tori Freestone on Flute, as well recording an Album in Rome and Rio De Janeiro with Maria Pia de Vito and Chico Buarque

(Buarqueana)

He pays tribute to all the greats, including my musical mentor Hermeto Pascoal, whose choro Intocável means both “untouchable” and “unplayable”. Well, Huw has played and touched not only this choro on this fine album, but our ears and our hearts as well. Beautiful work!"

Jovino Santos Neto

"Warren’s love affair with Brazilian music, most notably in his association with Hermeto Pascoal, hardly needs reaffirming here. But Choro, Choro, Choro is perhaps his most personal and celebratory release yet in the domain he so cherishes.
