James Walker is a famous American actor and comedian. He was born in 1947 and raised in the Bronx. He began his career performing stand up comedy with groups like the Black Panthers. He eventually toured with music legends like Stevie Wonder and Diana Ross. Producer Norman Lear discovered him and cast him in the hit show Good Times. He played the character J J Evans from 1974 to 1979. He became famous for the catchphrase Dy no mite. Walker earned two Golden Globe nominations for this role. Time Magazine named him the comedian of the decade for the 1970s. He helped launch the careers of Jay Leno and David Letterman by hiring them as writers. He has appeared in films like Airplane and Let is Do It Again. He continues to perform stand up around the world today. He has written a best selling book and recorded two Grammy nominated albums. He remains a beloved figure in television history.
