Doors 7:45 PM, Music 8:30 PM - 2 set(s) of music
Line-up:
Steve Beresford - Piano
Pierpaolo Martino - Double bass
Mark Sanders - Drum kit
About:
Steve Beresford, Pierpaolo Martino and Mark Sanders come together as a dynamic trio exploring the edges of modern improvisation. Each musician brings a distinct and highly developed voice: Beresford’s pianism, combined with electronics and small instruments, expands the trio’s sonic palette, shaping texture, harmony and form in real time; Martino’s double bass provides both a grounded foundation and a flexible melodic force, moving fluidly between pulse, resonance and abstraction; Sanders’ drumming is agile and responsive, driving the music with colour, momentum and an acute sense of interaction.
Rooted in contemporary jazz while embracing free interplay and groove-driven abstraction, the trio balances sharply defined compositional frameworks with fearless spontaneity. This performance marks the launch of Be S-mart, their new album, recorded live in Italy at the Bari in Jazz Festival and released on Confront Records. Expect elastic rhythms, richly textured harmony and deeply conversational improvising, where structure dissolves into surprise and reforms in unexpected ways — music that thrives on risk, trust and deep listening, intimate one moment and explosive the next, created in real time and fully alive to the room.
