Foo Fighters performed two new songs on the May 4th episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, but the band also played a couple of classics that didn’t air on the program. Now, Colbert has shared the performances of “This Is a Call” and “Everlong” as a web-only exclusive, with a nod to David Letterman.

While TV viewers got to see the Foos play “Caught in the Echo” and “Window” from their new album Your Favorite Toy last week, the studio audience was also treated to a medley of the first and last songs the band ever played on The Late Show with David Letterman, which preceded Colbert’s 11-year stint as host of the late-night program.

Colbert introduced the two songs as follows: “Performing a medley of the first song they played on this stage on The Late Show 31 years ago, ‘This Is a Call,’ and the last one on Letterman in 2015, ‘Everlong,’ ladies and gentleman, Foo Fighters!”

Dave Grohl and company then delivered an impassioned performance, as the frontman went in full scream mode during a shortened version of “This Is a Call,” before the band launched into the anthemic “Everlong.”

Foo Fighters first played “This Is a Call” on Letterman on August 14th, 1995, marking the band’s first-ever national TV performance. Letterman immediately became a huge fan of the band, and invited them back multiple times until they ultimately performed “Everlong” on the legendary host’s final show on May 20th, 2015.

Fans can catch Foo Fighters this summer on a North American stadium tour with support from Queens of the Stone Age. The outing runs from early August through late September, with tickets available here.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, meanwhile, will air its last-ever episode next Thursday, May 21st. Watch the web-only exclusive of Foo Fighters performing a medley of “This Is a Call” and “Everlong” below.
