Little Feat have announced they are heading on the road for one last time with their 2026 “The Last Farewell Tour.”
Following a string of cruise gigs, co-founder Billy Payne (vocals, keyboards), Kenny Gradney (bass), and Sam Clayton (percussion) will head out on the road with longtime guitarist Fred Tackett and newer additions singer-guitarist Scott Sharrard and drummer Tony Leone. The tour kicks off on April 10th, 2026, in Orlando, stopping in cities including Knoxville, Austin, Kansas City, and more. See the full schedule below.
Tickets for Little Feat’s farewell tour are available via Ticketmaster and Little Feat’s website. Fans can look for deals or get tickets to sold-out shows via StubHub, where orders are 110% guaranteed through StubHub’s FanProtect program.
In a press release, Little Feat noted that the tour is “not an absolute, never-gonna-play again statement. This wind-down will take several years to accomplish, and while it does, Feat will continue to perform and record as long as they are able. It’s a retirement from the travel of touring.”
To go along with the tour announcement, Little Feat have unveiled a new song, “Feathers and a Smile,” written by late co-founding vocalist and guitarist Lowell George in 1970. Built around an unreleased portion of “Crazy Captain Gunboat Willie Suite,” the new version features vocals from George’s daughter, The Bird and the Bee member Inara George. Stream it below.
Payne spoke about the tour in an interview with Rolling Stone, admitting that he “resisted” the idea of retiring from the road at first. “Everybody and their brother is retiring now,” he said. “I’ll be 77 in March, and [guitarist] Fred Tackett is 80, and [bassist] Kenny [Gradney] will be 76 next year.”
Payne, Gradney, and Clayton were all part of Little Feat’s classic lineup before George disbanded the group due to creative differences shortly before he died in 1979 of a heart attack.
The band reformed in 1987, with former Pure Prairie League member Craig Fuller serving as the lead singer before he left in 1993 to spend more time with his family. Over the past several decades, Payne, Gradney, and Clayton have remained core members. This current lineup has been playing together since Sharrard joined following the death of Paul Barrere in 2019, with Leone coming aboard in 2020.
“It’s about the chemistry and how it sounds when people play together, and that sound is what makes this band still that band,” Payne told Rolling Stone. “When I played our last album for people, they said the same thing: ‘God, that sounds like Little Feat,’ with smiles on their faces. I go, ‘Yeah, it does.’ It’s a miracle.”
Little Feat’s most recent album, Strike Up the Band, was released this past May.
