Japanese Breakfast is an experimental pop band led by Korean-American musician, director, and author Michelle Zauner. The band released its debut studio album Psychopomp (2016), followed by Soft Sounds from Another Planet (2017) and Jubilee (2021), both on the label Dead Oceans. The latter album garnered them nominations for Best Alternative Music Album and Best New Artist at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards.
She released her debut book, Crying in H Mart: A Memoir, in 2021. The book is planned to be adapted into a feature film by Orion Pictures, with Zauner providing the soundtrack.
