Red Hot Chili Peppers are an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1983. The band consists of vocalist Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea, drummer Chad Smith, and guitarist John Frusciante. They are one of the best-selling bands of all time, with over 120 million records sold worldwide.

Red Hot Chili Peppers' music incorporates elements of funk, punk rock, hip hop, and psychedelic rock. Their eclectic range has influenced genres such as funk metal, rap metal, rap rock, and nu metal.

The band was formed in 1982 by Kiedis, Slovak, Flea, and Irons. They released their debut album, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, in 1984. The album was a critical and commercial success, reaching number 24 on the Billboard 200 chart.

The band's second album, Freaky Styley, was released in 1985. The album was an even greater success than their debut, reaching number 11 on the Billboard 200 chart.
