Mansell Plantation in Camden, MS on sharecropper land, John Primer migrated to Chicago in 1963 with a dream of performing on stage with Muddy Waters.He got his start on Chicagos famous Maxwell Street playing for tips with Pat Rushings band, then getting hired at the famous Theresas Lounge as the house band rhythm guitarist for the great Junior Wells with Sammy Lawhorn. He was taught by all the legendary bluesmen.From there he was noticed by Willie Dixon. After going on tour with Willie, Muddy Waters noticed him and took John as his bandleader fulfilling his lifelong dream! After Muddys untimely death John went to work with Magic Slim as a Teardrop for the next 13 years.He was signed by Atlantic Records in 1995 and went out independently with his own Real Deal Blues Band. He has over 95 recordings and several on his own Blues House Productions record label. He currently tours with his own band all over the world. He is truly one of the very last real deal, traditional, bluesmen alive today!John Primer is a Blues Hall of Fame Artist with 3 Grammy Award Nominations.
