Boisdale of Canary Wharf welcomes Omar, a central figure in British soul whose music moves effortlessly between jazz, funk, R&B and disco, shaped by over four decades of recording and performance.
Best known for "There’s Nothing Like This", Omar’s sound is rooted in musicianship as much as songwriting, with a catalogue that balances groove-led tracks and more reflective material. His live shows shift naturally between styles, drawing on a body of work that continues to evolve.
Across his career, he has worked with artists including Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, Leon Ware and Lamont Dozier, placing him within a lineage that bridges UK and US soul. In 2012 he was awarded an MBE for his contribution to music, and more recently released his ninth studio album Brighter The Days, marking 40 years as a recording artist.
Omar’s influence extends well beyond his own recordings, shaping the direction of modern soul while maintaining a clear and individual musical voice.
