In 2025, James Gunn brought the world his take on Superman (one of the year’s best movies), and the next movie to come from the relaunched DC Studios will feature another Kryptonian — Kara Zor-El, otherwise known as Supergirl. Audiences got their first look at Milly Alcock’s Supergirl at the end of Superman, after Superman’s cousin crashed into the Fortress of Solitude following what seemed to be a pretty epic rager. Now she’s getting the spotlight in her own adventure, directed by Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya, Cruella) and hitting theaters June 2026 — as revealed by this new trailer.
In this first look, set to the tune of Blondie’s “Call Me,” we see a largely hungover Kara getting into all sorts of intergalactic mayhem, while fielding questions about her past and the differences between her and Superman’s worldview. We’ve also got her superdog Krypto, proving that he’s not quite as housebroken as one might hope.
Before Superman, Alcock’s biggest role was as the younger Rhaenyra Targaryen in the first season of House of the Dragon (she was succeeded by Emma D’Arcy, following a time jump). She also starred in the 2025 Netflix limited series Sirens, and will be appearing in the upcoming black comedy Thumb. The cast of Supergirl also includes Matthias Schoenaerts and Eve Ridley, with David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham on board to play Kara’s parents. Krypto, the galaxy’s most chaotic Superdog, will also be heavily featured, along with a cameo from Jason Momoa as Lobo.
