Jane Schoenbrun twisted our minds inside out with her acclaimed 2024 film I Saw the TV Glow, and they look ready to do it again with Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma. While this new trailer describes the movie as “a new kind of horror remake,” the movie looks like a highly meta twist on horror franchises, with a sexually charged dynamic erupting between stars Gillian Anderson and Hannah Einbinder.

Here’s the official synopsis, courtesy of Mubi:

Set at a summer camp unraveling under increasingly bizarre circumstances, the film follows a queer filmmaker (Einbinder) attempting to resurrect a fading horror franchise from a bygone era, determined to enlist its original final girl (Anderson) in a last attempt at revival. As the boundaries between fiction and reality begin to dissolve, the filmmaker and her star spiral into a psychosexual frenzy, while characters from the original Camp Miasma meet their fates at the hands of a new slasher portrayed by Jack Haven (I Saw the TV Glow). Blending classic horror tropes with Schoenbrun’s singular, dreamlike style, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is an eerie exploration of nostalgia and identity, supported by a dynamic ensemble that includes Zach Cherry, Sarah Sherman, Eva Victor, and Jasmin Savoy Brown.

Schoenbrun was Consequence’s Filmmaker of the Year in 2024 for their bold work, and Teenage Sex and Death has received overwhelmingly positive reviews following its debut at Cannes. The movie premieres in theaters on August 7th, 2026 — check out the new trailer and poster below.
