West End vocalist Nate Simpson takes centre stage for Celebrating the Kings of Soul, a musically charged homage to the voices that shaped American R&B and soul across five defining decades.
A seasoned performer with principal credits in Get Up, Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical, Motown the Musical, The Lion King and The Crooners, Simpson has built a reputation for tonal precision, commanding phrasing and a natural ease with groove-led repertoire. His stage craft has also seen him appear across national television and radio, receive support from BBC Introducing, and share stages with Beverley Knight, Jessie J and Jacob Collier.
Accompanied by a finely tuned live band, he moves through the harmonic brilliance of Stevie Wonder, the velvet urgency of Marvin Gaye and the silken phrasing of Luther Vandross with musical intelligence rather than imitation. The southern intimacy of Al Green, the Motown drive of The Four Tops and Lionel Richie’s effortless melodic touch sit alongside George Benson’s jazz-inflected elegance and the brass-powered precision of Earth, Wind & Fire.
Rich arrangements, tight horn lines and a rhythm section built for precision give these songs renewed weight within Boisdale’s intimate live music restaurant setting.
Served alongside a three-course Saturday lunch in our second-floor dining room overlooking Cabot Square, this is soul music at its most refined: rhythmic, romantic and rooted in heritage.
